For Friendship Week (also known as Anti-bullying week), pupils in P5 looked at how people who witness bullying can make a difference.
Through various activities, we have learned that people can encourage bullying without realising it, either by staying silent and ignoring the bullying behaviour, or by doing things such as laughing, pointing or joining in.
We have discovered ways in which witnesses can act to help discourage bullying. These include: reporting the bullying behaviour to an adult; being a supportive friend to the person who is being bullied; and standing up to the person who is showing bullying behaviour.
Although it can be hard to stand up to bullying, we all have a part to play. We looked at inspirational quotes which encourage people to stand up for the rights of other people.
Below is a video which one of our pupils created to encourage people to stand up to bullying. This film was based on our homework task for the week.
