Learning about Money and our “Dinosaurs” Assembly

We have had a very busy fortnight in P2/3. We have been rehearsing our class assembly, learning about similes and have started our new maths topic – money. We have been looking at Sterling coins and notes used in the UK. We have looked at the colour, size, shape and value of the coins and notes. We have been learning to order money by value and taken part in a variety of games and activities to help develop our understanding and knowledge of this.

We have also looked at some currency from different parts of the world, and some people have brought in real coins and notes from other countries. We have seen money from America, Canada, and Malaysia and have also seen Euros.

This week we will be adding coins to find totals. We will be adding coins of the same value to find the total and we will also be adding coins of different values. This will help to improve our coin recognition and our addition and counting skills.

Have a look at some photos of us enjoying exploring money below.

We had our class assembly on Friday 16th January. We were all confident individuals who showcased our learning confidently and effectively.A big thank you to all parents, carers, grandparents, aunties and uncles who attended! During our assembly we shared some of our learning from our “Dinosaurs” topic.

Have a look at some of the photos of our class assembly below.
