Number bonds in the playground
Last week we went outside to do our number bonds and were also able to enjoy the good weather. We worked with a partner to list all of the number bonds for 17 and 18, focussing on one number at a time. Then we played walkabout number bonds. We were each given a number between 0 and 17 and had to move around the playground. When we heard “stop” we had to find our number bond partner to make 17 and stand next to them e.g. 0 and 17. After each turn we had to swap numbers with someone, so that each time we were a different number and had a different partner. We then repeated this for 18. It was great being able to do some maths outside in the beautiful sunshine!
Have a look at some photos of us working with our partners.
We made some beautiful sunset pictures using paint and black sugar paper. We were exploring colour mixing and shades of colours. We started by drawing our sun, the horizon and lines coming from the sun. Then we painted our sunset sky, mixing yellow, orange and red to make different shades of these colours to create a beautiful sunset. We then created our water using the same mixing skills and painted the water. As the paint dried we set about making our silhouettes from the black sugar paper. After the paint had dried we glued our silhouettes onto place.
Our sunset paintings with the colour mixing and silhouettes are very effective!
