Well done to the 26 pupils who represented Preston Street in the Edinburgh Junior Marathon on Saturday 31st May.

In the glorious Holyrood Park sunshine, 17of our P4-6 pupils completed the 2k run (the 9-12 year old category), while 7 of our P1-4 pupils completed 1.5k in the 6-8 year old category. Earlier in the day, two of our P7s had completed the 5k – a magnificent effort!

Many of our pupils had been practising hard at our running club, and the preparation paid off as they finished the course with ease!

After the race, it was great to see our runners and their families share their achievements (and their medals!) at our celebration picnic in the park. We’ll present all our runners with special certificates at our end of year achievement assemblies.

Mrs Allan, Mrs McIntosh, Miss Ritty and Mr MacLean (who had earlier completed the 10k race) were all present to cheer on the runners (and enjoy the picnic!) and the whole day was a brilliant celebration of everything that is best about Preston Street.

Thanks to all the runners who were raising sponsorship money, which will go towards new football, basketball and athletics kit for our school sports clubs. If anyone would still like to make a contribution, please call at the school office, or send donations in an envelope clearly marked with ‘School Marathon Donation’.

Our 1.5k race team celebrate their achievement.

Some great times were achieved and all of our young people can be very proud of their achievements. We hope you treasure your medal forever – and come back to run again next year!
