First week in P7

Our new P7 class have had a great start to their final year at Preston Street. It has been great to see that we have enjoyed full attendance all week, and pupils have settled in really well to their new senior position within the school.

Cricket has proved a popular addition to PE – keeping the balls in the playground and out of the neighbours’ gardens is the biggest challenge!

From limerick writing to games of cricket, the range of activities during this first week back has certainly been diverse!

Over the next couple of weeks we will start our interdisciplinary learning project about Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat. Pupils will also be commencing work towards their Junior Awards Scheme Scotland (JASS) Silver Award.

Pupils’ first visit to the library – they will go on a weekly basis throughout P7 to choose personal reading books.

In September, our P7 pupils will be attending a specially arranged conference with senior managers from Scottish Widows, where they will be given help to understand the processes involved in applying for a job and attending an interview. The managers will help our pupils develop skills and knowledge which they will then use to apply for our school prefect roles this session – filling in an online application and then attending an interview.

We will also be enjoying lots of sporting opportunities including multi sports sessions at the Crags Sports Centre, run by Young Leaders from James Gillespie’s HS.

All in all a busy term ahead!
