Tour of Britain 2015

IMG_4468 (800x600)There was a fantastic buzz around the school this morning as we lined the pavement on Dalkeith Road to support the Aviva Tour of Britain 2015.

All our pupils and their teachers were in position to cheer the 120 riders as they passed by at the beginning of Stage 4 of the race. A number of our parents and carers also turned up to lend their support.

IMG_4465 (800x600)The excitement grew as the police arrived to stop the traffic and the support cars and motorcycles began to file past.

It was quite a surprise for many of our pupils to see the sheer number of vehicles which accompany an event of this size, and the variety of different roles and jobs which people have in order to support the Tour.

We even got our 15 minutes of fame, courtesy of an appearance on the Tour of Britain’s own official Twitter feed!

Here are some pictures from the event – we’ll add more as they arrive.
