Lutton Partnership Fridays – Eco

Lutton have been doing all things eco these past few weeks. We have been learning about decomposition, this is the chemical dissolution of materials through bacteria and other biological means. It takes a significant period of time for a material to decompose completely, depending upon the type of material and the method of degradation. Have a look at the followings facts we discovered.

  • Paper Towel 2-4 weeks to decompose
  • Banana Peel 3-4 weeks to decompose
  • Newspaper 1-2 months to decompose
  • Foamed Plastic Cups 50 years to decompose
  • Aluminium Can 200-500 years to decompose
  • Plastic Bottles 450 years to decompose
  • Plastic Bags 200-1000 years to decompose

We also looked into ways in which we could be creative with our rubbish and highlight how we can recycle our waste. Have a look at our spectacular ‘rubbish’ posters and our beautiful art installations we created with Halloween fast approaching. Remember it is our prime duty to keep a check on the usage of harmful materials like plastic, as they do not decompose easily and harm our environment.
