Football

20151101_114719 (800x450)This term, we have continued to expand and develop our football programme and now have more pupils than ever playing and enjoying the ‘beautiful game’.

On Sunday mornings, a group of our parents run a P3-5 football club.

Most of our training takes place in the beautiful setting of the Meadows.

Sessions are free and open to all – just go along to the Meadows (by the tennis courts) at 11am every Sunday.

As a result of this club, our P4 pupils have started attending ‘Fun Fours’ at Saughton Park on Saturday mornings. This allows them to play short, small sided games against other school teams in a fun and supportive environment.

If your child is in P4 and wishes to come along, please contact Mr MacLean for details (see below) – and remember, P4 pupils can also attend the P3-5 Sunday morning training sessions to develop their skills and have fun.

Our girls’ football club is open to P6 and P7 pupils. This is run by Miss Riley and we have had excellent numbers in attendance. Training takes place on Tuesday afternoons after school at the Crags. The girls recently had their first game of the year at Pentland PS and more games are scheduled for the next couple of weeks.

We also continue to run our P5-6 and P7 football teams, who train on a Thursday with Mr MacLean and Mr Anderson, and play regular Saturday morning matches.

Participation in all our football activities is completely free, and open to all regardless of ability or prior experience. It is fantastic that we now have so many opportunities for pupils to play, develop and represent the school, and we thank all the staff and parents who help provide this.

If your child is interested in playing football at Preston Street, or if you have any questions or enquiries, then please contact simon.maclean@prestonstreet.edin.sch.uk for details.
