Owl castings and food chains

Today we were learning about what Barn Owls eat. We learned about how Owls swallow their food whole and then regurgitate a casting (sometimes known as a pellet) that has all the bits of the animals that it does not eat. Miss Ferrier showed us a real owl casting and showed us how tightly it was bound together. We saw evidence of the food the Barn Owl had been eating! We also began to  learn about food chains starting with thinking about the food chain of an owl.
