Primary ones took part in a story walk around the school last Thursday as part of the Primary one Bookbug launch. The children enjoyed following the walk to find and hear each page from the story, “A House for Hermit Crab” by Eric Carle. Each page was read to them by an adult in their small groups. They collected one object to symbolise the part of the story from each page and stuck this item onto their ribbon, under the correct month. After collecting all objects and hearing the whole story, they made their way into the gym hall where they enjoyed juice and biscuits as they retold the story using the objects they had gathered on their ribbon. After this the children enjoyed hearing a story read to them by a local librarian and her “pet dog”. The children then received their Bookbug bags from Cleo Jones.
Primary ones have also been busy learning the winter songs for our winter show “Christmas Around the World”. Our winter show will be performed on both Thursday 17th and Friday 18th December.
The Primary 1/2 class party will be on Monday 22nd December in the morning. The children will enjoy party games, dancing and party food as well as a special visitor!
This week in class we will be revising Literacy Rich block 1 work and block 5 work. The children will be doing a range of fun, independent and group work tasks to reinforce their learning. In maths we will enjoy a range of activities to reinforce number work.
