Last week, we had a fantastic time helping Hansel and Gretel by constructing and then eating our own sweetie houses! We used nice biscuits, icing and a variety of sweets to construct our houses. We helped each other to build the house structure, holding it together with icing before decorating it with sweets, like the witch’s house in the story.
We also designed and coloured our own gingerbread houses and enjoyed playing a Hansel and Gretel themed game, sharing the resources and taking turns. Some of us tried a reading challenge sheet where we had to read the words from the story and then draw a picture to match the word.
We enjoyed exploring using water paints to create Hansel and Gretel themed pictures, this was the first time that many of us had used this type of paint. We found it less messy and liked that it dried quicker than normal paint!
