Another beautiful day and another wonderful opportunity to discover and explore Holyrood Park this time in the company of PC Lily – already known to many of the children from their topic last year on Arthur’s Seat.
Today we walked over 3 miles around Holyrood Park starting at St Leonards where we looked at the information on the Interpretation boards and discussed what QR Codes are. We then weaved our way around past the playpark (stopping briefly for some refreshments) to the Education Centre before we ventured onto the hills to learn about volcanos, quarries and hidden beaches.
We spent some time in the Camstane quarries where we experimented with building sandcastles to illustrate the different layers in sedimentary rock before hiking back to school for lunch. Roll on tomorrow….
