Another busy week for Primary 5

After all the excitement of working for our individual John Muir Awards  (not to mention Sports day and Bikeability) , the class have settled back into working hard on their Rainforest Topic.

This week we worked with Miss Ritty on our Rainforest pictures. We have all nearly finished our pictures of macaws which are vibrant and eye-catching!

We have also spent a lot of time this week learning about the tribes of the Rainforest, in particular the Yanomami tribe in Brazil. We have been discussing how different their everyday lives are to ours and what challenges they face living in the Rainforest. We have had some very interesting discussions around the distinction in roles between boys and girls as well as the food that they might eat.

We finished the week imagining ourselves as young members of the Yanomami tribe as we wrote diary entries documenting our experiences and feelings.
