Great start for basketball club

dsc_0862-1024x576Our P6-7 boys’ team turned out at the Crags this afternoon for the first South Edinburgh Schools’ Basketball League fixtures of the season.

Four clubs were represented – Preston Street, James Gillespie’s, Blaze A and Blaze B – and there was some great basketball on show from all four teams.

dsc_0855-1024x576As always, the tournament was well organised by Eoghann and his team of volunteers from the Blaze junior squad. Well done in particular to the young referees who were officiating at their first tournament since completing their introductory refereeing course, and did a great job keeping the games going.

In a change from the past couple of years, the Friday tournaments will now operate on a weekly basis. P6-7 boys will play every second Friday, while P4-5 boys and P4-7 girls will have a tournament every four weeks.

The tournaments represent a great way for members of the basketball club to experience competitive basketball at an appropriate level.

Well done to Ali, Enoch, Quinn, Karim and Dyllan for putting in a great performance for Preston Street!
