P6 were invited by children’s author Vivian French and Evelyn Love-Gajardo (City of Edinburgh development officer:literacy strategy) to launch their annual writing competition, the Green Pencil Award. This year’s theme is gardens or parks.
We happily went along to the National Library located on George IV Bridge to discuss our ideas and how we can up level them. Vivian even taught us some of her writing secrets that she uses in her books such as Oliver’s Vegetables. Vivian made us think how our 5 senses can assist us in writing creative and imaginative stories.
Afterwards we took a short walk through the Old Town’s closes and down the Mound to the floral clock at Princes Street Gardens. We were greeted with other council officials and newspaper photographers who wanted to take our photo. We took great pride in representing our school and look forward to writing our stories.
