Brazlian Art Project

P6 have been making long distance phone calls (skype actually) to Brazil in the past couple of weeks. This is part of our comparative study between Scotland and Brazil. We were looking for inspiration for a new art project and Lu Freire did not disappoint.

Lu is a contemporary artist from Foz do Iguacu. The town in which she lives in is very close to the stunning Iguazu Falls found on the border of Brazil and Argentina. One of her best pieces of art was created in Edinburgh which won her worldwide acclaim. She frequently paints for Red Bull Events and many other international brands too. Lu is autistic and has Asperger’s Syndrome. We learned a lot from her as she does not let this stand in her way. In fact, Lu says this has helped with her art work as her attention to detail is heightened.

Lu set us an art challenge and the prize was mind-blowing. The winning entries would be sent off to Brazil and placed in one of her forth coming gallery events! After viewing our pictures Lu couldn’t choose individual winners and decided that all our entries will be used to create an up and coming art installation.

Check out our stunning masterpieces in Foz do Iguacu…or here if you don’t want to travel to South America.
