What a busy and exciting start P3/4 have had kicking off term 3.
Last week was Scots week and we had great fun learning our Scottish song Sam the Skull. Everyone performed so well at the Scottish assembly and had lots of fun. We also had a voluntary Scottish poem competition and everyone who entered did an amazing job, WELL DONE!!
Prior to this it was friendship week; each day we focused on an aspect of friendship and worked hard at putting it into practice. Examples included sharing, being kind and listening to our friends.
P3/4’s topic in term 3 is the rainforest!
We are learning about this through a storyline approach. Students have all been put into families/tribes and have individual characters. We have been doing lots of collaborative learning, working as a team to create tribe names and agreeing on our characters. This week we have learned about where rainforests are in the world and located them on a world map. Our tribe groups were given different countries, all of which had rainforests. Children then created a weather forecast for their country.
This week we began our sequence of lessons on multiplication; most of us were revising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
Next, we will be learning our 3, 6, and 9 times tables together and then progressing on to our 4 and 8 times tables. Children who already know all of their times tables confidently are currently being challenged through problem solving activities and multiplying one digit numbers by two digit numbers.
Look out for our times table challenge which will be starting this week.
