Primary 3/4 has had an exciting two weeks after returning from the February holidays.

Children are continuing to work with either myself, Miss Welsh or Miss Forbes for reading. We are continuing to work on a variety of reading/grammar skills in line with personal reading books and the group novel, How to Train your Dragon. Children will also be continuing to receive new spelling words/sounds each Monday which we will work on throughout the week. The class will have either a dictation or spelling test every Friday.

The class have been continuing to work on multiplication. This week they began to work on division and explored the links with multiplication.

Group 1 have been focussing on the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables through both multiplication and division. This week they have made a great start to learning the 4 times table.

Group 2 have been focussing on the 2, 5, 10, 3, 6, 9 and the 4 and 8 times tables. We will continue to build confidence next week with the 6 and 8 times table. This week we explored these through word multiplication problems and division sums.

Group 3 have been focussing on multiplying 1 digit by two digit numbers and this week have been focussing on dividing 2 digit numbers by a 1 digit number using remainders.

This week the class went on a trip with Primary 4 to Dynamic earth. Everyone had a great time and particularly enjoyed watching a rainforest storm at the end of the tour. After this we went to a rainforest workshop where we had to organise animals into the rainforest layer they live in. We also looked at some mini beasts found on the rainforest floor and learnt lots of interesting facts.

Please remember our class assembly on the rainforest  is on Friday 24th March. We look forward to seeing you there.
