Scottish Book Week and the Reading Ambassadors

Last week was Scottish Book Week and our Primary 7 and 6/7 Reading Ambassadors were in great demand throughout the school.

On Tuesday they dressed up as characters from their favourite books to accompany the younger children to Newington Library for some storytelling to celebrate Scottish Book Week.

On Thursday the Reading Ambassadors welcomed two visitors who presented us with a collection of 31 Scottish books on behalf of Luxury Scotland, which we had won in a competition. These books give a real flavour of Scottish literature from John Buchan to Robert Burns and there is a fair smattering of information books as well, all of which have links to areas of Scotland.

The Faculty then participated in the National Reading at Lunch Day on St Andrew’s Day where we did some comfy, cosy reading in the Primary 7 classroom; the only difficulty we encountered was putting our books down…..
