Thanks to over 40 parents, pupils and staff who came together this afternoon to clear snow from the playground and surrounding pavements, and lay down grit on paths and surfaces, to ensure that we are able to reopen the school tomorrow.
Due to the fantastic turnout, we were able to clear and grit the entire playground and surrounding area in just over an hour! We were joined by Councillor Alison Dickie, local councillor for Southside and Newington – summing up the community spirit which was evident in this afternoon’s event. Full marks to Councillor Dickie who finished her shift at Preston Street before heading over to Prestonfield Primary School to help out there as well!
After their hard work, all our volunteers were rewarded with hot drinks and rolls courtesy of Mrs Allan – a small reward which hopefully went some way towards showing our appreciation of everyone’s efforts.
A special mention must also go to Mrs Hunter and her husband, who cleared the staff car parking area this morning to ensure that teachers who drive to work are able to park tomorrow morning – see the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures below!
Our hard work didn’t go unnoticed on Twitter either:
We look forward to seeing all our learners tomorrow at the usual time (8:45am for P3-7 and 8:50am for P1-2).
