Residential Trips

At Preston Street, we offer a variety of residential trips. These help our young people to experience new challenges, learn new skills and develop their independence. They are also a wonderful opportunity for wider achievement.

Currently we offer:

P5 Residential Visit

A three day / two night residential visit to an outdoor activity centre – this provides a supportive introduction to the residential experience for our younger pupils

P7 Residential Visit

A five day / four night residential visit to either Benmore or Lagganlia outdoor activity centre – this provides a more extended, challenging experience for our older pupils. This visit may sometimes be co-ordinated with another cluster primary school, to help with the high school transition process.

P7 pupils enjoy a mountain biking session at Benmore, March 2019..

Hong Kong and Scottish Schools in Partnership programme

We are proud to participate in this extremely exciting programme, along with a number of high schools including James Gillespie’s (our cluster high school), Boroughmuir , Royal High, Castlebrae, Gilmerton and Liberton (all of which have either gone in the past, or will be attending in 2020).

This programme allows pupils to visit Hong Kong and participate in a pupil placement within a local primary school, as well as enjoy a range of cultural experiences.

Our pupils have participated in two previous visits, in September 2017 (four pupils) and September 2018 (eight pupils). Our next visit is scheduled for February 2020, when sixteen of our young people will be taking part.

Detailed information is available on the Hong Kong 2020 page.
